~Last Quarter~

            Today I’m going to talk about a system that most of the countries use. It is called “Capitalism”. As we know that capitalism refers to an economic system. It has appeared in Europe since the decline of feudalism. Then when the Industrial Revolution occurred, capitalism gradually started to spread from Europe. In the 19^th and 20^th centuries, capitalism became the main means of industrialization throughout much of the world. Nowadays, people study economics, marketing and managing more and more because these subjects support capitalism. They work for money. They earn money and try to get more. And finally, money has become their god. They never get enough of it. The more they earn, the more they need it.

            Capitalism is a system that develops economic but never develops people’s mind. I will give you some examples; first, the Ethics have been forgotten. Well, maybe not but people just study and leave it behind. So humans are less generous and become selfish. They could do anything for money. Why do we see such horrible news on the newspaper and on TV? Why does someone hurt and kill others? Isn’t it because everyone wants money? There are thieves. There are murders. Even there are laws to punish those bad people but some still can avoid getting punishment by giving officers money and they could live in the social like nothing happens. Second, some civil servants, who work for the country, have much money but they do corruption. So the money that should be used for developing country has gone with them. Some find a way to do corruption legally or avoid paying tax. The last, when money is the big thing so people keep working and working. Also parents keep working and say that all they do are for their children, for supporting the education of their children. But they don’t have time being with their children. They never listen to their children if they are having some problems, if they want some suggestions for solving the problems. Then this will be a problem itself. Parents don’t understand their children and children don’t understand their parents. When they grow up, how can they know what a good person is like?

            Now you can see capitalism effects on every part of the social. These are why I rather feel negative for capitalism. I believe there must be someone who feels the same but we can’t deny it because we are too small to change the world system so I, myself, can just tell others my opinion and if they agree with me, we can just change the world a little bit. I think the subjects which are more important than economics, marketing and managing are philosophy and ethics. Then people will see that a bank note is just a piece of paper, a diamond is just a stone and gold is just nothing. Can you eat them when you are hungry? No! You can’t. Don’t say that you can spend money buying food from a shop but what if there is no shop. Anyway, we live in this system. Just choose your own way of life. It’s YOU who control money, don’t let money control you.
